The short version
FindDance is a curated NYC dance guide. We collect the minimum information needed to run accounts, comments, feedback, maps, media, and beta product metrics. We do not sell personal data, run ad targeting, store precise browse-location history, or ask for screenshots or uploads in feedback.
For privacy questions, correction requests, deletion requests, or anything that needs personal context, email hello@finddance.app.
What FindDance collects
| Area | Data | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account sign-in | Provider account id, email, name, profile image, username, session records, and provider tokens when required by the auth provider. | To let people sign in, manage a public username, and post comments. |
| Comments | Comment text, public username, linked event or venue, edit and moderation status. | To show public discussion and moderate abuse or mistakes. |
| Feedback | Feedback type, route, selected event or venue when available, broad device category, optional note, source URL for certain correction reports, and a short-lived hashed client identifier for rate limiting. | To fix wrong listings, broken links, confusing UI, and beta quality issues. |
| Product metrics | First-party events such as event opens, venue opens, search, filters, ticket clicks, directions clicks, map marker clicks, zero results, and map load failures. Search text is bounded and sanitized. | To understand whether the app helps people find where to dance. |
| Maps and directions | Map interactions, venue coordinates, and commute requests needed to show map and directions features. | To render NYC venue context and estimate practical travel information. |
| Media and source records | Approved venue and event media metadata, source URLs, permission notes, credits, takedown status, and reviewed public event or venue source details. | To publish trusted event and venue media, handle rights requests, and keep public listings accurate. |
What FindDance avoids
Product metrics are designed not to collect emails, phone numbers, auth tokens, cookies, full URLs, referrers, user ids, precise location, or long raw search text. Feedback text redacts common personal details where possible. Do not include private contact details, precise location, secrets, screenshots, uploads, or sensitive personal context in the feedback widget.
Service providers
FindDance uses service providers to run the app. Current provider categories include hosting and database infrastructure, Better Auth for account sessions, configured OAuth providers such as Google sign-in, Vercel Analytics, Mapbox maps and directions, Cloudflare R2 media storage and delivery, and source/enrichment services used by admin ingestion workflows. These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to FindDance.
Cookies and sessions
FindDance uses account and admin session cookies to keep signed-in users and admins authenticated. We do not use advertising cookies. Public browsing does not require sign-in during beta.
Retention
Account records and comments are kept while the account or comment feature is active unless deletion, moderation, legal, or safety needs require a different outcome. Session records expire on their configured schedule. Feedback and product metrics are kept for beta learning and product quality analysis. Media permission and takedown records may be retained as needed to honor rights, removal, audit, and safety obligations.
Your choices
You can browse public event and venue surfaces without an account. You can request access, correction, deletion, username changes, comment removal, or a privacy review by emailing hello@finddance.app. Media rights requests should use the media takedown page.
Security and minors
FindDance limits public and admin data exposure, keeps admin tools behind authentication, and avoids logging secrets or raw provider credentials. FindDance is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
